Robben Ford & Bill Evans - The Sun Room (2019)

This is a co-led venture between Robben Ford and I. I’ve been a fan of Robben Ford for many years. This album was effortless to make. We recorded it in Nashville, TN in January 2019. It’s got Keith Carlock on drums and James Genus on bass. We laughed, played music, and had a great time. As it should be. It’s music!

This is one of my favorite songs on THE SUN ROOM. A beautiful vocal wrote and sung by Robben Ford. “Gold On My Shoulder“ should be a classic!

On this track, Insomnia, I tried to sing as quietly as I could into the microphone in order to create a certain vibe. At times I’ve suffered from insomnia, so I tried to write the lyrics that would paint a picture of what it can be like in the middle of night when everything feels like a sci-fi film.

I wrote “Catch a Ride“ specifically for these musicians. Robben, Keith and James know how to swing on a shuffle like no one else.

Here is a track from Rise Above called “Them Changes“ Josh Dion on lead vocals and drums, Mitch Stein on guitar, Dave Anderson on bass, Danny Louis playing the B3 and Ryan Cavanaugh on banjo.

Here are a couple of Tracks from my “Dragonfly“ album (2015). Steve Lukather plays a great guitar solo on “Forbidden Daffodils”, and Josh Dion sounds amazing singing lead vocal on “Madman.” I had fun painting the Dragonfly on the cover, which is a painting of the rare Pasula dragonfly from Brazil.

BLAST FROM THE PAST …..

Live at the Bluenote Tokyo, 1989

This CD represents my first “live“ recording, using friends of mine who all went on to become well known artists and great musicians in their own right. Dennis Chambers, Darryl Jones, Chuck Loeb and Jim Beard.

Check out the groove between Darryl Jones and Dennis Chambers.
